New Forest District Council (NFDC) welcomed visitors to its stand at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show, where they were invited to find out more about Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and what it means for the future of council services.

Over the 3 day event, visitors spoke with council staff and explored plans for future council areas.

The stand also included interactive activities for all ages, including a mock election, information about voting, and opportunities to find out more about how councils work and the services they provide.

Show-goers were also able to explore a large map showing the future council areas, share what they love about living in the New Forest, and find out how they can keep up to date with the changes ahead.

On Wednesday 29 July, New Forest District councillors visited the stand to meet staff, speak with residents and visitors, and learn more about the engagement activities taking place throughout the Show.

Councillor Jill Cleary, Leader of New Forest District Council, said:

“This occasion provides a valuable opportunity for reflection. We can look back and celebrate on the good work we’ve done, the strong relationships we’ve built, and the contribution we’ve made alongside partners, communities and residents across the New Forest.

At the same time, it is an opportunity to look ahead with optimism.

As local government evolves, the enduring priorities remain the same: supporting our communities, delivering for residents, and helping the New Forest continue to thrive.

Today is therefore an opportunity for us to recognise the strength of what has been built and the opportunities that lie ahead.

As we look to the future, I am confident that the passion, dedication and strong sense of community that define the New Forest will continue to guide and inspire those who serve this remarkable place and its residents.”
